Made from impact resistant W2 tool steel, these cleavers are big, serious, and are meant to handle a lifetime of use and abuse. Cleanly chop the leg off of a deer in one smooth swing or cleave a hog in two, using both hands. The secret to making this steel preform to its fullest potential is a professional heat treat, using cryogenics and a differential quench, bringing out a beautiful hamon, which shows the hard edge juxtaposed to a mild, impact resistant spine.
I can use about any variety of stabilized wood or antler to make the custom handle you want for your kitchen, and leather covers are available upon request.
