Mid-Century Modern Coffee Table

This coffee table base was crafted from black walnut and has a heavy Danish influence, The top is 1/2" oval glass (temporary image is rectangular). The aprons were constructed using a bent wood lamination technique which entails cutting 3/16" thick layers of wood, gluing them up, bending the assembly into a two piece form, then clamping the form together. Legs and apron were hand planed, shaped and tapered with a rounded edge. Mortise and tenon and draw bore joinery was used to bring all the parts together. Dowels are used to lift the glass top 1/2" above the base to add a floating appearance. Finished with Danish oil, water-based polyurethane and wax. Dimensions: top-60"L x 28"W, base-47"L x 14"W x 16"H. Price does not include glass top.
