Millennium Of Pursuit - A Seder Plate Commission In Progress.

All work is one of a kind.
The example seder plate is titled MILLENNIUM OF PURSUIT
Dimensions and theme depend on the budget and ideas.

This seder plate was a commission for Congregation Emanu-El, San Francisco. It was designed to reflect the architectural and decorative details of the synagogue foyer.
The decorative patterns is cut from doll house material, filed and riveted with sterling silver rivets onto a Trivial Pursuit Millennium Game tin. (I had just enough material.)

You can views photos of the design and assembly process on my Facebook page album.
Please inquire.

The entire seder plate is constructed from recycled tin cans. It is functional, but I do not recommend washing the seder plate. A Plexiglas panel is provided so that you can place food on top of the seder plate (without touching the tin can materials with food).

Care and Maintenance Instructions will be provided.

Millennium of Pursuit is constructed from recycled tin cans and vintage steel dollhouses to focus on the Hebrew phrase Tikkum Olam.

Tikkun Olam means "to repair the world." By removing materials destined for the junk piles or recycling bins, I want to personally demonstrate how each of us can make a difference, and that we are all responsible to repair the world.

When asked to make a seder plate for this synagogue, I was especially inspired by the patterns and designs in the foyer outside of the main sanctuary. The light blue patterns applied on the sides were cut using a jeweler's saw from vintage steel doll house floor, then filed carefully to create these beautiful forms inspired by decorative motif from the ceiling, windows and walls of Congregation Emanu-El in San Francisco, CA.
The sides of the seder plate are sloped at the same angle as the pyramids.

The blue background on the sides. is taken from a recycled tin can that once contained a Trivial Pursuit Millennium Game. You can still see the word "Pursuit".
The concept of Pursuit reminds me of Exodus --- where the Jewish people were pursued by Pharoah's army . . . and the ongoing pursuit of the Jewish people over the millennia to observe their religion.

The word Pursuit and millennium is perfectly appropriate for a Seder plate. The Jewish people were pursued by the Egyptians, then they had their pursuit of freedom traveling across the desert for 40 years, or the pursuit of following their religious beliefs over the millennium.

It is very important that there are multiple layers of meaning in my work.

The whole Seder plate turned out amazing.

The appearance of the Seder plate is very clean, modern, and contemporary. That is a very difficult challenge when you are working with found materials.

Dimensions: 16 3/4" Length x 10 5/8"width x 2 5/8" height

Dimensions change with each Seder plate.
