This small delicate wall mirror is created with traditional Italian Cassetta style molding. The cherry blossoms and leaves in each corner are in full bloom. The gilding on the carvings are "worn" back to reveal beautifully soft pink tones on the flower pedals and deep luscious green on each leaf. There remains just enough gold leaf on these carvings to allow the flowers and leaves to shimmer in light. The water gilding on the frame is done with 23 karat gold leaf over yellow and black gilders clay and gently aged and toned. The panel of the mirror frame completes the piece with a soft white egg tempera paint. The molding is 2 1/4" wide and the mirror has a 3/4" beveled edge.
