This bench was built to match an existing arts and crafts dining set for a client of mine.
It features a substantially roomy seat, yet can be slid under the table when not in use, making it perfect for its use as extra table seating.
The through-wedged tenons on the lower stretcher are a mainstay in mission furniture and work to keep the bench from racking, but also give it a unique and interesting look.
It is made from all quartersawn white oak as most of the older mission / arts and craft pieces were, and dyed to give it a traditional ammonia fumed appearance to highlight the unique ray flecks in the oak grain, and then coated with a few coats of shellac, and finally finishing wax.
Dimensions: 42" x 13" x 16"H approx.
