"Mittens And Slippers Ii" Antikea Danish Modern Coffee Table In Jatoba And Purpleheart
This small, elegant coffee table is a more slender version of my original "Mittens and Slippers" coffee table. The tabletop is built from a fabulous piece of jatoba (aka Brazilian cherrywood), which is dense, hard, and dent resistant like teak. The tapered legs and aprons are built from a different piece of jatoba with a complimentary but dissimilar character. The mittens (breadboard ends) and slippers (leg accents) are made from a mild mannered purpleheart which accentuate the red-orange tones of the jatoba. It is finished in wet-sanded Danish oil and satin wax, which with a wood like jatoba produces a glass smooth surface: simple and elegant
