This fully custom kitchen is of modern taste. Cabinet construction is face frame but with full overlay doors made to look like a european style kitchen. Maple melamine was used for the carcass of the cabinets...3/4 for sides, bottoms and shelfs and 1/4 for the backs which are dadoed and hot glued into the sides. Face frames are Red Birch and pocket screwed and glued together. Whenever possible I pocket screw and glue the face frame to the carcass which makes for an incredibly strong cabinet.
Doors are solid Red Birch similar to raised panel construction without the detail on the panel edge. To get the contemporary look I kept just an eighth inch gap between the panel and rails/stiles. All my drawers are made of 5/8 material with 1/4 bottoms. This customer chose a pre-finished 11 ply maple plywood. All drawers are constructed with wood dowels and slide on Blum full extension Tandem slides with the soft close feature. This particular kitchen has a built in refrigerator and microwave with a bank of drawers below. Finish was done in several coats of clear lacquer. More pictures can be emailed upon request.
