Modular Toy Castle
Hard white maple. Walls 3/4" thick, 30" long, 10" tall. Corner towers 4" square, 14" tall. Castle towers 8" square, 16" tall. Crenellations, window and door details, box joint corners to evoke block construction. Finished with non-toxic lacquer.
This was a great project- I essentially got to build the castle I would have wanted as a kid. Scaled to fit my client's existing toy collection, the castle itself is a joy to play with. The corner towers have mortise tracks for the tenons of the walls to fit into, allowing a variety of setups: a traditional box castle, a long wall, two opposing keeps. Two walls have doors that match up with the doors of the castle towers, and two have a row of windows. All walls have shelves for figures to man the battlements. Castle towers are open on one side, with a shelf that lines up with the tops of the walls. All edges are eased for kids's safety and comfortability of handling- this was built to last generations,
