During stick season, my gardens are without color. I learned how to make a fairly lightweight form that can survive winters here in Vermont and made this Anglefish using colored mirrors, mosaic, and flat round colored glass. However, when completed, I wasn't happy that it was sitting flat and without sculptural movement. It took quite some time to design and make the ceramic ocean "splash" that tilted the fish and made it "swim". However, because of the shape of the base, it can only be used in a place without frost. I will make others for my frosty garden later....I'm even thinking "turtle"!
This piece is an eyepopping 26 1/2" high, by 22" from tail to nose. The deepest part from splash to splash is 15". I can vision a lot of homes near the coasts where this angel would be stunning.
