I turned this music conductors baton on my wood lathe. The handle is a laminated plywood product called spectra ply. Thin layers of maple veneer are died a variety of colors and then laminated in various patterns to produce a striking rainbow wood that is very colorful, stable, and finishes nicely. Both the handle and poplar wood shaft are epoxy glued together and finished with a water based clear finish which does not yellow.
Any music teacher with a whimsical personality will enjoying using this baton!
