M.V. Bystander

'Bystander' was a rebuild project on a 42' America's Cup tender; originally built as a support vessel for 'Enterprise' the 1930 U.S. defender.
Completed in 2008, we designed a new interior to exacting standards both of execution and to the design parameters of a very restricted space. A combination of Staved bulkheads and joinery in Makore with painted trim, frosted glass doors, a very tightly designed bathtub and locust used for horizontal surfaces comprised the interior.
Much of the hardware was custom made.
The wheelhouse and the deck joinery were designed by us with respect to the original design (which had been lost). Early photographic records were used and dimensioned along with some aesthetic changes and accommodations for modern systems. System interface was close with the helm seats containing on one side all the electrical switchgear and panel, on the other, a day fridge.
