Natural Oak Bookcase With Glass Doors And Top

This natural oak bookcase was built for an old friend. Simple face frame construction gives an uncluttered look to the design.

Small details such as the individually sized arches in the upper openings add just a touch of interest and eye appeal. The differing heights of the base cabinets and the lifted corner cabinet were planned for specific purposes. These details also help to break up the otherwise linear lines of the cases.

Glass was chosen for the countertop. The photos do not do justice to the stunning effect it adds to the bookcase. The shimmering glass also reflects the natural light up into the normally darkened space between base and upper cabinets, helping to unify the two levels together.

The Oak doors with cut in finger pulls hold panels of glass that have a reed design etched into them. This etching does not completely hide the contents within, plus it adds yet another layer of visual interest and contrast to the whole.

The design also includes multiple custom fitted, full extension roll outs that house the electronics for both the sound and entertainment systems. All the doors were fitted with child proof locks to keep the grand kids out!
