This elegant Mahogany Executive Desk is an original reproduction featuring custom turnings, radius patarae and band inlays of Satinwood, Primavera, and Dyed Pear. All moulding is also custom and true to the period; from the cockbead trimming each dovetailed drawer to the moulding featured at each veneered flat panel.
This one-of-a-kind desk was built to easily pull apart into (4) individual pieces for convenient transportation: the top, including the three drawers above the waist mould; the knee space panel that fits snugly into two dadoes cut on each case piece; and the case pieces themselves.
The finish is a five-step hand applied process including potassium dichromate to activate the tannin acid in the mahogany and aid in the natural aged look. We then built four layers of shellac, using various tones for incredible depth and light refraction in the piece. The result is authentic and rich.
