This storage/server was designed to serve as storage as a typical dining room china cabinet and server, along with that added features of an entertainment center. Cabinet boxes are constructed of quality (A-1 grade) red oak plywood. The doors/drawers, face frames, fluted columns and other trim are made of solid red oak. The upper cabinet doors have low-iron, acid-etched glass (low iron glass greatly reduces the greenish cast that is typical with regular glass). The top of the lower cabinets is granite (provided by the client), which offers a wonderful serving surface as well as means to break up the wood with a different, but complementary color and texture. The drawer boxes are made with solid maple with dovetail joinery on all corners and feature Blum Tandem, soft-close drawer slides. Furthermore, Blum hinges are used on each door and have an integrated soft-close feature as well.
