This table was designed to be contemporary in style, yet allow it to blend with the style of the rest of the residence. The bases are trapezoidal with a five degree downward taper. Constructed of solid red oak, the bases provides excellent stability for the half inch glass top. Along with the inherent strength of the finger joinery of the bases, the contrast created by the end grain adds a beautiful design element to the table. Spanning the bases are solid red oak supports that are cross lap joined to the bases, further increasing the stability and strength of the table, while maintaining the airy, open design. Inset within the cross members, centered along the width of each base, are stainless steel disks that offer an very interesting aesthetic element. The top measures 42" wide by 96" long and is one half inch thick low-iron glass (low iron glass greatly reduces the greenish cast that is typical with regular glass, especially at that thickness).
