Norfolk Pine Live Edge Coffee Table

? You HAVE to see this table in action to fully appreciate the chatoyancy effect! ? ?

?The name might say otherwise, but Norfolk Island Pine is not in the pine family at all, and the trees are pretty rare.
?It's native to Norfolk Island off the coast of Australia (situated in the South Pacific Ocean between New Caledonia and New Zealand)
?You won't find these trees anywhere in the US with the exception of Florida due to their need for very high humidity when growing.
?This table specifically has what I like to call the "living" effect (aka: Chatoyancy). It literally means "to iridesce like a cat's eye". if you watch the video link above, you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. It's a beautiful natural 3D illusion that changes as you look at the table from different angles.
?Chatoyancy in wood is highly prized for its unique appearance.
?Gorgeous grain & rich colors - just like a finger print, it's unique to only this table. It is also handcrafted from individually selected cuts, so there will never be another exactly like this.
?Handcrafted by an artist; not mass produced by machines.
?Mid Century Hairpin legs - raw steel finished with a hand rubbed beeswax to protect from rusting.
?FREE SHIPPING within the US - no need to budget in the extra expense. The price you see is the total price you pay.

Most Live edge coffee tables available here in the US use native wood species like Walnut or Oak... but this table will be even more of a conversation piece, as it's made from a very rare and hard to find exotic Norfolk Island Pine. Live edge Coffee tables can be found anywhere, but you'll have to look far and wide for one with this specific wood. I have personally never seen one for sale, and this is the ONLY one for sale on Etsy.

The wood on this table has been treated with a hand rubbed European Hard Wax Oil to bring out every last detail, pop the grain and nourish the wood. It's also been sanded down to glass smooth while still keeping the gorgeous natural ripples & chatoyancy. Your guests will not stop staring at it, I can promise you lol. This is truly the sort of furniture statement piece that completes any room.

? Due to the nature of hard wax oil finishes, they will need occasional TLC and can't be cleaned with any chemicals as this may strip away the oils and waxes. This isn't a big deal and probably sounds worse than it actually is but I want to be 100% upfront before purchase. If you have any questions at all about this type of finish before you purchase, please ask away :)

Have something else in mind? We can do much larger pieces and do custom work all the time... just shoot us a message :)
