Oak And Zebrawood Console
This is a entertainment stand made from locally cut red oak and African zebrawood, with steel supports.
The box was bought from the miller, kiln dried by a professional for about 3 months, then we planed, biscuit joined, sanded and stained it. The finish is a "dark walnut" Minwax stain. The resulting finish was polished with Mineral oil. The wood for the door was treated with mineral oil only to allow the grain of the zebrawood to show fully.
The steel frame was welded then ground to result in a clean profile. It has been treated with gun blue and mineral oil. The box was assembled inside the steel as the fit is precise and it closes around the wood tightly enough that it could not easily be slid either way even before the screws were added.
The door hinges allow it to be easily removed and dampeners to prevent slamming are included. Final dimensions were 56"l, 24"h and 16"d.
