Customer needed twin size beds made out of oak to be used as a King size bed; needed 2 different mattresses for different firmness. Additionally, the beds needed to be sturdy to accommodate added weight of adjustable metal platforms. Requested undermount drawers on each bed, plywood tops instead of slats, and a minimum height above the floor of 4" so a Rroomba could be used underneath. Drawers move smoothly on ball bearing, full extension drawer slides. Drawer boxes are made with dovetail joinery. Twin Beds are locked together front & back with oak filler pieces. A 50/50 mix of natural Danish oil & satin polyurethane was applied and rubbed into the natural oak for the finish.
