Oil Painting | Ophir

A collector of mine is married to a man who loves the trains of old Colorado, and specifically the line that ran from Telluride to Dolores, the Rio Grande Southern Railroad. I was commissioned to paint a painting of the Ophir Loop. Working from old photos and postcards I built up a drawing looking up the Howard Fork of the San Miguel river. The town of Ophir is barely visible in the large yellow meadow in the middle distance. The painting is oil paint on stretched linen.
