A club fender 'cut' bench. The simplicity and understated elegance is true to the design and materials of old English fireplace benches made in England before the Industrial revolution (c 1800 and before). We size each bench for the intended hearth and add features to the balusters, upholstering and base-plate that we'll discuss with you. Also, see samples of our 'full' bench, our 'dip' bench and 'corner set' bench models.
The 'cut' bench combines the features and functions of a 'full' and corner set' bench: rigidity, weight, design interest and design interest, seating and ease tending the fire.
What distinguishes an Old English Fireplace Bench from the more familiar 20th century club fenders is solid iron and forge construction. Contemporary English club fenders are made with hollow and extruded brass components in machine shops using nut & bolt assembly.
