This was an extensive remodel on a lakeside home. We completely changed the kitchen area; removing the lowered ceiling with it's light frame and the wall that separated the kitchen/dining area from the living area. To create an efficient work triangle and maximize counter and cabinet space we angled the peninsula. This provided the perfect setting for the eating bar.
The hood was used as a focal point and given generous proportions, creating a feeling of spaciousness. On the opposite wall, in the dining area, we built a large arch, using the same finish and styling as the kitchen. This effectively enhanced the lake view, and tied the room together
The wall that we removed was load bearing. Dealing with the necessary posts and beams presented us with another opportunity to enhance the mix with another architectural element.
