In the hills above Winter Park is a beautiful home overlooking the aspens. I was commissioned to design and make a spalted maple table with copper and bronze resin combining the two live organic edge pieces of wood to create the 102"L x 42" live edge table top slab in the large open multi-use room surrounded by other arts and crafts. The table is supported by a custom blackened raw steel base. I was pleased to also provide the Mid Century modern Kennedy chair replications in solid walnut and black leather.

I design each table project to fit the needs of each individual customer. These natural edge slabs are usually cut around 2" thick or even up to 3"+ or more inches. Some times we are able to book match the wood which is taking two pieces of wood from the same log and mirroring the grain of them to each out . There are many ways to incorporate the beauty of the natural wood in the table.

This could be a coffee table, a console or end table, an entry table, conference table or any number of other concepts. Let me know what you need and if at all possible, I will build it.
I treat each project as a marriage of art and design, functional art. A coffee table or end table depending on requirements will start in the range of $1,500+. If you are looking for a kitchen table or dinning table the price point will start around $3,000+. Many kitchen or dinning tables end up in the range of $4,500-$9,500+ or more because of size, the wood species, the base, and customers needs and requirements. Delivery and installation are priced as required.

I can work in almost any wood species, however certain woods work best to have a live edge. We reclaim as much wood as possible, cutting dead or injured trees and saving them from the furnace or chipper. Some beautiful woods include elm, walnut, ash, hickory, sycamore, maple, oak, cherry, and cedar, however we are not limited to these woods. Specialty characteristics such as spalting, crotch wood, curly wood and of course burl are all potentials. Please consider that a single wood slab section will have a higher price than if you put two or more sections together to create the width. As would be expected, the larger the table, the larger the tree required to produce the slab and the more time finishing. If a slab needs to be fresh cut there is a greater amount of time required to produce the work as it will need to be air or kiln dried. Our time frame is based on dry ready to use wood.

We can provide those little details that make all the difference, including butterfly inlaid joints out of wood or metal. We also can provide inset work, carved areas, glass, clear or metallic colored resin, laser engraved, carvings etc. For the base, I tend to make them out of metal for durability and the contrast look. I can custom design and produce the legs as well as I am trained in metal fabrication and casting. The legs could be painted/or powder coated almost any color, plated silver or bronze/gold in color, made in bronze or brass, or black, natural steel, or any number of other colors or color patinas. We could even design and cast table legs in metal to fit your design. Each piece is unique. Why would you have something custom made otherwise? You want your very own special made table to enjoy and hand down as an heirloom.

Time frame for design and production will vary however typical time frame for a table is 8+ weeks once we have chosen the wood and the wood is dried and ready to work. If you need something quicker it is possible if I am able to find the right slab to meet your needs that is already aged to perfection.
