Organic Textured European Linen Tote/Vegetable Tanned Leather Trim
textured/sculptured sturdy linen tote with vegetable tanned, beeswaxed leather trim.
hand painted fabric watercolor stripes in antique/French blue.
this linen is from an 80 year old eco oriented mill in europe. i use linen because it is a clean, naturally anti-microbial fiber. growing flax and weaving it into linen fabric is a very sustainable process, and always has been. this linen has a great nubby texture and a variety of tans/gray fibers in it. the blue woven stripes remind me of vintage woven table linen.
the leather straps are hand waxed with beeswax from a beekeeper down the road from my house.
a leather tag is riveted to the center of the bag with nickel plated / copper rivets
straps are reinforced at top and bottom with rivets and leather "washers" and angled leather "feet" have been added for extra protection
the tote is lined with beautiful Liberty of London "strawberry thief" cotton lawn. the print was designed by William Morris in 1883. The detail in the design is amazing!
