Other Large Bead Embroidery Projects

I would love to make your idea for a large bead embroidery collar, necklace, or anything else you can think of a reality!

Here are examples of 3 different large bead embroidery pieces I have done.

1. "Aloha"--Hand made and painted porcelain cabochons representing the Hawaiian islands (with some artistic interpretation of course) march up the left side of the collar and clasp, surrounded by a blue seed bead and mother of pearl ocean and carnelian lava. The right side of the collar features woven 3D hibiscus flowers with standing, repositionable stamen and embroidered palm leaves.

For the finishing touches, the extensive fringe features real sea urchin spines, which tinkle when moved. The clasp is a sterling silver S-curve for easy wear. The entire piece is backed with a soft tan Ultrasuede. This collar is fun, elegant, and comfortable all at the same time!

2. "Nature at Random"--Real cowrie shells are the focus as well as the inspiration in this original design and are surrounded by randomly embroidered seed beads, mother of pearl, obsidian beads, and Czech glass creating a striped pattern. Mother of pearl cabochons create the connecting and fringe pieces. The strap is made using a strong peyote stitch, while the clasp is hidden behind a separate matching embroidered piece. The entire collar is backed with soft, black Ultrasuede.

3. Untitled--Swarovski rivolis are the focus of this extensive 2-tiered choker collar. Surrounding them are iridescent green and blue embroidered seed beads and labradorite chips. In the fringe hangs the second tier with the same components in a different design. Punctuating the fringe are fire-polished Czech glass beads and large labradorite beads of different shapes. The embroidered pieces are backed with a soft black Ultrasuede in a snakeskin pattern.
