Our Lady in the Woods Chapel
High in the choir, the Heaven window beckons like a beautiful spring morning, fresh with potential. Architecturally, the opening is problematic. The upper and lower panels are folded in opposite directions and the view from below is obscured by several steel beams, informing both the theme and composition of the window. There is a faint yellow question mark in the lower right panel, an allusion to the self-doubt and questioning that accompany religious pursuits.
The Resurrection window begins ten feet from the floor and thrusts heavenward with tension and release. The leadlines echo the branches of the trees outside.
Originally commissioned to also do the entire wall behind this window, Guy declined, feeling that transparency would better serve the building and those inside.
