Painting | Dry Gulch

I draw when I hike, using colored pencils in a small notebook. I make oil paintings from these drawings. This painting shows a tiny stream in the high alpine tundra of the Front Range in Colorado. This basin, Dry Gulch, is very close to the Eisenhower Tunnel on I-70. But I was high up in a world apart when I made this drawing. The piece is painted in oils, and measures 32"x18."
