The area we were to design this unit for sat beneath a cantilevered walkway overhead but the depth of the overhang was insufficient for the depth of the unit so we created a 'soffet' (of sorts) that allowed the unit to sit fully within it's confines. The client wanted a very detailed built-in so we paneled the stiles (a.k.a. pilasters). Note how the crown molding steps out around the stiles and creates even more detail. A TV sits behind the pocket doors in the upper center. Another project where I took pictures before they even filled up the unit.
