The client wanted to surprise her daughter with a portrait of her cat, "Beansie." As you can see in the photo of the final work, the photographic reference and the thumbnail, this painting was so easy, it practically painted itself. Composition, position on page and pose were a given. I always love back-lighting. He had an overall taupe color, but I wanted to pump up the color more. I chose jewel tones, which set off his amber eyes.
The sanded paper accomodated heavy build-up of Rembrandt, Unison, NuPastels and Mount Vision pastels.
