Pleated Cafe Curtains

What better way to update your home than by adding custom made draperies throughout. This set of cafe curtains was custom made for a rather large project I have been working on to totally remodel a guest home throughout. This beautiful print is called Birdwatcher. The specs are 56" width with a repeating vertical pattern every 24.75" and repeating horizontal pattern every 27.75".
When ordering fabrics it is very important to know these details as they make a different in having enough fabric to ensure your seams are matching patterns.
I have not shipped this set yet so I have not added the rings, which you can opt to use pleat hooks if you wish. This customer chose the rings for the particular look she was going for.

I have listed one pic of a close up of where a seam is so you can view how the pattern should look in matching to make your seams almost invisible.

For these curtains, we chose a lightweight muslin from JoAnn Fabrics. As you can see, it has a very clean and neat appearance.

I base my pricing on my labor involved. I do not charge for any running around to make purchases, research time, or making the patterns. My labor time begins when I lay the fabric out to begin cutting and ends when I have completed the sewing. Even at this, I have never charged for my full labor; I allow for repeat time, which is when I have to take something out and redo.

The window these curtains were created for is 38" X 21".
We increased the width by 20% to allow for the bunching these pleats make in the finished curtain; thus ensuring they hang wide enough to cover the window space completely without gaping.

My labor for a set of curtains like these runs around 5 hours at $15. per hour = $75. To this price would be added the CM fee, shipping (no handling fees charged), and any fabric/supplies I would have to purchase on the buyers' behalf.

So, if you are ready to begin your remodeling, just let me know what you have in mind. I'll be glad to do the math and come up with you an estimate. Please do not ask me to figure your yardage, as this is very time consuming. If you accept my proposal, I will be more than happy to figure your fabric needs based upon your choice of fabric. I will even help you find your fabrics before a proposal and try to give you a raw estimate on the amount of fabric you will need.
