This bowl originated as a large burl on a Western Big Leaf Maple log. I sliced the burl off with a chainsaw and carved it with a variety of hand tools. It was not turned on a lathe, as it is asymmetrical in design. The bowl resembles a flower in bloom, with many overlapping petals. The finish is incredibly silky and touchable inside and out, having been sanded down to 4000 grit and finished with a polymerized linseed oil with a bit of beeswax.
Dimensions: Approximately 22 inches in diameter by six inches high.
