This was an exciting project to build since I was given free artistic reign in its design. I designed it for an art gallery to display sculpture and also for storing promotional materials in the drawers and on the bottom grid. The main wood used is Big Leaf Maple and the top and grid is Chakte Kok which is commonly called Bloodwood. My inspiration for the carving came from Nevada's big horn sheep. Big Leaf Maple has a wonderful iridescent quality to it, it appears to shimmer when you walk past it. The finish is shellac and wax which brings out and enhances this effect which is referred to as chatoyance.
