In Fairbanks, Alaska, where I live, ravens are ever present. Incredibly intelligent birds, they are truly fascinating to watch, and they make the most amazing calls. My design depicts a raven and the stylistic impression of a black spruce tree in the stark stillness of winter.
I fabricate my raven pendant from sterling silver sheet. I use a jewelers saw to cut each wall, forming them until they puzzle together into an elegant, sculptural form. I solder the walls into place and cut away the overlapping edges. I file and sand everything to a soft matte finish and oxidize the recessed design to darken it and make it stand out.
This small pendant sits nicely at the clavicle. It is 5/16 inch wide x 1 inch tall. It comes with a 16" or 18" sterling silver cable neck-wire.
