I was commissioned to design and build a bookcase with the following contingencies:
1 -- Had to be able to flat package ship.
2 -- Designed in an interpretation of the Arts and Crafts movement.
To accomplish these goals I:
1 -- Designed the shelves with an aluminum t-track mortised into both ends, that slides into a mating track in the side of the cabinet.
2 -- Incorporated screws below the shelves and a valance below the top to stiffen the case.
3 -- Designed divided sliding doors, complete with semi-transparent Shoji paper to provide visual balance to the lower half of the unit.
4 -- Applied ambrosia maple reeds on the side as a signature element of visual interest.
