Our reclaimed barn wood stools are truly one-of-a-kind. They may look simple but they are beautiful in so many ways. Each stool is handcrafted from 150+ year old barn wood that has been salvaged from barns in the mid-western United States that were either destined for burning or landfill. The wood may be old but it is still in excellent condition and is generally of better quality than the same type of wood available today.
Over it's life the wood has accumulated imperfections that are unique and beautiful in so many ways. We do not distress or alter the color of the wood in any way but prefer to keep it looking as close to its original state as possible. The wood is carefully sanded where needed to ensure a safe and useable surface free of splinters and slivers. The stools are finished with a clear finish that adds a durable layer of protection and will protect them from spills and food etc.
They make great gifts for friends or loved ones and can be passed on for generations to come.
The stool pictured is 12" W x 12" L x 24.5" H.
There are generally two types of bar stools, 1) counter-height and 2) bar-height. Counter-height bar stools are commonly 23-28 inches from the floor to the seat (23- to 28-inch seat height). Pair counter-height bars tools with 35 to 37-inch table heights. A bar-height bar stool is commonly 29-32 inches from the floor to the seat (29 to 32-inch seat height). We have listed some standard sizes with pricing but if you are interested in having a custom size made we will happily work with you to produce your own special piece.
The photos provide a representation of what will be made for you upon order. Slight grain and color variations in the wood are to be expected. We do our very best to provide you with a quality product using the design shown but every piece of wood is different and offers its own unique character. All reclaimed wood comes with previous years of wear, which we believe adds unique character. Each piece has its own history.
