Reclaimed Coffee Table With Three Brace Theme
This was a wedding present for some friends. The top is made from reclaimed pine that came out of an old North Carolina barn. The rough sawn blade pattern resulted in a cool sinuous texture across the surface.
The base is steel, MIG welded and finished with gun blue (a process called parkerization) and mineral oil- the top is treated with mineral oil as well. The weld beads are left on throughout for a more industrial look, but the junctions are darkened up and made to match the rest by the finish, which I think strikes the right balance.
The feet have levelers threaded in to allow you to adjust for any irregularities in the floor, or you can unthread them and put felt pads on instead. The piece overall is quite light, but feels substantial- it's definitely not fragile.
