Reclaimed Dining Table

This piece was designed and built for a friend of my family. She was recently widowed when we decided to build this. Its built from several spices of wood that her husband had stored in his barn. They both liked the craftsman style so I set out on my design. The aprons are out of some aged cypress that have a gentle A symmetrical arch. The legs are pine that are chamfered to give them detail but not take away from the table as a whole. The top is red oak with a 10" band of hickory running through the middle. It has a 3" walnut bread board edge with hickory accents. It is also cut on a 2 degree angle that give the top a slightly rounded appearance. The top was toned with a dark brown to bring it all together. Its top coated with oil and urethane.
