Reclaimed Kitchen Island Butcher Block

Here's the original request we received: something durable. it will be centerpiece of the kitchen and double as a place to eat and a place to work. i'm also a chef so something that's a mix of wood and industrial would be nice.

Here are some details on the project from the maker: Included in this proposal are all labor and materials to fabricate, finish and deliver kitchen island as described in attached drawing and sketch. Table-top to be made of solid walnut with a hand-rubbed, oil finish. Legs, frame and bottom shelf to be made of Douglas Fir. Legs frame and shelf can be either painted, or stained and top coated. The walnut to be used is reclaimed from a tree that was downed in a storm in Garrison, NY. It is not "antique" or "distressed". The Fir to be used is from a structural beam, salvaged from a construction site in Croton, NY. The Fir is clean and square, but may show some knots and minor cracks. Thank you and please contact me with any questions.
