Interior sliding "barn style" door for a private residence in Westford, VT. The clients requested the use of reclaimed wood, the inclusion of windows, and staining to match the existing woodwork. They envisioned the door as a screen, dividing the main living space from a guest room/play area for their young children when needed. With these parameters in mind, I designed & built this large door. The wood (pine & douglas fir) and track hardware were salvaged from c.1890's train depot that was torn down after damage from Hurricane Irene. The rollers were sourced from Texas and are from the same time period. Traditional mortise & tenon joinery, frame & panel construction, antique hardware, and the incorporation of a unique live edge walnut sapling, give this piece a singular look.
