Reclaimed Wood Wall Art

I built this art piece to evoke an overhead snap shot of a cityscape off the ocean.

First, I chose wood for the ocean that has been weathered outside for a very long time. It is now gray in color but over time some moss and lichen has grown on the wood which gives a little bit of a turquoise color like the ocean. You can also see how prominent the grain sticks out of the wood in the water; it looks like there are small waves. I then lined the water with sand beach border and as you can see, I chose some mossy green pieces to mimic grass and sand mixed. Lastly, I built the cityscape in which the buildings vary in height from 1/2" to 3" tall.

This artwork is made of old reclaimed Barn wood which consist of these species of hardwoods: White Oak, Red Oak, Elm, Hickory, Sycamore, Sassafras, White Ash, Maple and Pine.

This artwork has a completely natural patina, which means that it has not been painted or stained. What you see is the natural color of the wood that has been aged for over 80 to 120 years.

I installed a 2" deep solid hardwood border around the art piece to keep it from warping; this border is stained in a dark espresso finish.
The entire piece has been sealed with a low VOC water based sealer to preserve and protect it.
There are no faux finishes in the world that can duplicate the colors and textures that Mother Nature creates.
There is just something about wood that has been aged for over 80 years that produce the most unique array of colors and textures.
If you would like to see more angles of this piece, please send me a message and I will get you some more photos.

The total dimension of this piece is 52"x24"x4".

Each art piece is hand signed and dated in the back.

I also include the mounting kit for secure wall hanging.

This art piece will be shipped in a wood crate to protect it and it will also be fully insured from damage.
