Recycled Ring

This ring began it's life as several broken 14K gold chains and a set of opal earrings with one missing stone.

My customer, Carol, explained that the earrings were a gift from her, now, ex-husband. Unable to wear the single earring or the broken chains, she was just going to give them to me.

Knowing that she had a daughter from this previous marriage, I asked if she would like me to make a ring from all the scrap to give to her daughter.

She thought that was a great idea!

I melted the gold and then flattened and thinned it to create the ring band and the spiraling accents on the side of the stone. The stone setting was used from the original earrings.

Because I used Carol's gold and opal, she paid only for my labour to make this ring.

Now Carol's daughter has a lovely opal ring from her Mom with the opal from her Dad.
