This project was my second major project after I opened up my business. When I received the order, I was more than eager to impress. The customer had previously looked at design magazines and already had an idea in mind. My task was to implement the idea from solid wood and give it a little something to make it stand out. I drew on the marquetry/parquetry to create an elegant design for the drawer fronts. Each drawer is fully functional and designed to accommodate and provide access to the water and drain pipes. The full-extension slides allow for an easy access to the entire drawer.
This bathroom vanity, including the drawers, is completely made from solid red oak. The inlay veneers used are padauk, Swiss pear (dyed black), and maple burl. The eight-pointed star at the centre of the drawer fronts is made from padauk and Swiss pear (dyed black).
