Redware House Plate Decorated Using The Sgraffito Technique

Redware House plate of red earthenware with white slip.

Decorated using the sgraffito technique - scratching through the white slip to reveal red clay beneath. Yellow coloring is from transparent glaze emulating yellowish colors of antique redware plates.

Project began with patron's photograph. Patron decided on oval plate, verses round. Sketch was approved and the work began. Additional questions may include where to put names and/or dates, trees, flowers, what to include, what not to include, and lastly, what to inscribe on the back.

Dimensions: $75.00 deposit is required and you are given a sketch of the plate to approve. 8" tall x 12 1/2" wide or 9 1/2" tall x 14" wide
