Redware Historic Building Plate Decorated Using The Sgraffito Technique

Redware plate for the Peter Wentz Homestead located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, made of red earthenware with white slip. This plate is sold through the gift shop. A 40% discount is offered to historic sites when ordering 5 or more plates. Shipping charges are extra.

Decorated using the sgraffito technique - scratching through the white slip to reveal the red clay beneath. Yellow coloring is from transparent glaze emulating yellowish colors of antique redware plates. Project began with a photograph. Patron decided on a round plate, verses oval. Sketch was approved and the work began. Questions may include where to put names and/or dates, trees, flowers, what to include, what not to include, and lastly, what to inscribe on the back. This plate includes an issue number on the back along with the site name, county and state where it is located.

Dimensions: $75.00 deposit is required and you are given a sketch of the plate to approve. 10 1/2" diameter or 11 1/2" diameter.
