Introducing my most Dia de los Muertos piece - "Reflections"! Save for the frame, this is created entirely of glass. A fused glass "butterfly" and flowers are mounted on brilliantly iridized art glass ground.
"Eyes" are prominently featured in all of my work, and this is no exception. Most notable are the large purple orbs of shiny dichroic glass in each wing... it's as if there is a "spirit within". The skeleton itself has eyes of pale green rhinestones for excellent night vision.
Life abounds within the flora as well... in the black center of the green flower (lower left) a very delicate spider web can be found...look carefully to see if you can locate its owner.
The frame is wood and finished with metal coatings, applied patina, and two coats of wax sealant.
Day of the Dead art has become a favorite for me... with the annual celebration taking place on November 1-2, I will be posting more pieces in the near future (fresh from the kiln). If you would like to commission a piece for yourself or as a gift, don't hesitate to contact me!
