Customer requested a replica door that must fit in the original door frame setting and be an exact duplicate of the original, which had stood the test of time for over 50+ years.
Oak was used for the strong, outer framework of the door while tongue & grooved pine boards made up the interior of the door. Extra oak cross bracing was added for strength and stability to the interior side of the door.
The entire door received a coat of exterior primer followed by two (2) coats of a quality exterior, satin white Sherwin/Williams paint. All three (3) original hinges and the catch were cleaned and straightened before cutting gains to install them back on the door and the door frame. The door was checked for smooth operation and minor adjustments were made until the door operated smoothly on oiled hinges. Finally the long black faux hinge straps were installed to complete the door restoration and installation. Approximate door sizes: 1-1/2" thick x 44' wide x 6'-8" tall.
