Restoration Of Victorian Entranceway (Relead)
This entranceway was in desperate need of restoration. The owner had put packing tape on both sides of the glass to keep the glass from falling out. The sun over time baked the tape to the glass, something I had never seen before. The tape added a great deal of time to this restoration. In the pictures, you can see the cartoon that I make of the glass before I start to break down the window. Each piece of glass is cleaned and placed on to the cartoon for new restoration grade lead came. We replace the lead with the same exact profile as the original. People ask if replacing the lead devalues the windows. I like to use the analogy of an Antique Car with the original tires. This particular project was approximately 20 square feet of window.
