River Rock Vessel

This lidded vessel was inspired by water flowing over river rocks. The clay form is hand built construction with an incised texture on inset. Layered glazes enhance the inset with soft blue-green colors. The piece is fired a third time in a kiln fueled by sawdust (Pit Firing) to add the smoked surfaces surrounding the inset. The lid is designed around the unusual branch. After the branch has had the bark removed, it is sanded, stained and lacquered. It is permanently adhered to the ceramic lid after it is fired. This is a decorative ,sculptural vessel and does not hold water.
This vessel is available and priced at 520..
