As an artist, my process is very much part of the finished piece. I also am drawn to specific materials and shapes... this ring came to life when I was playing with form and function. What started out as a drawing in my journal soon became a small sculpture statement piece for the finger with my signature rustic style. Though the piece is functional... it looks fantastic on display in its own right as a tiny sculpture. The line, fluidiy and rich patina of the copper and brass demands admiration.
This is the kind of ring you decide to wear first, THEN what to wear with it comes second. My favorite way to dress for an event! ;)
"Rustic Cohesion" relates to the self-induced puzzle I created for myself utilizing two of my favorite metals. Hours were spent pondering how this ring would be built and function...each strike of the hammer and wielding of the pliers was carefully calculated to create the finished product. Thus, challenging my inner desire to piece materials together to make wearable art. This piece is one of a kind.
I have a fond attachment to each of my pieces, which makes it difficult to part with them... hence the importance (as the maker) that they find a loving home. ;) They deserve to be worn with pride and cared for...and admired by others! That being said, I want collectors to understand how I treasure each piece I make. Essentially, my work is an extension of who I am as an individual~ heartfelt and genuine.
Buying work from an artist is not about just an object, you are purchasing part of the artist's soul that they decided to share with the world.
