Rustic Industrial Bench Made From Reclaimed American Chestnut And Salvaged Steel

The Johnny Bench is handcrafted from reclaimed American Chestnut and salvaged steel. Elements of midcentury modern and rustic-industrial design have been melded together, creating a bench with clean lines and strong durable materials that is truly one of a kind. The nearly extinct American Chestnut wood seat has been reclaimed from a broken, discarded door from the early 1900's era. The door has been deconstructed and re-milled while retaining all of its unique characteristics like tenon joinery, lock mortises, and nail holes which give indication of the wood's past life. The chestnut seat has been finely sanded and finished with a natural hand-rubbed oil finish that highlights the rich aged medium brown wood tone. The seat rests upon a pair of fully welded, heavy gauge rectangular steel legs. The steel has been salvaged from altered restaurant table frames and has been powder coated in a subtle sand texture black. The legs have threaded leveling furniture glides to protect floors and can be easily changed for specific floor surfaces. The Johnny bench would also make an excellent coffee table.
