The construction of our Log Furniture is a bit from the norm, instead of the "usual style" of turning the ends of each log into a round dowel and then inserting that into a mating hole. Our construction method is to hand scribe each log to mate exactly to the corresponding log, giving it a look as thou it had grown naturally this way. Each Log is hand selected to mate with the corresponding log keeping in mind this construction practice. The side rails utilize standard Bed rail hardware for easy assembly (side rails shown are 2x6 fir, natural log side rails are an option). Each piece of Log Furniture we create is truly unique and the Bed shown is for reference purposes only.
Our Log Furniture is constructed from Yellow Birch, hand-peeled to preserve the natural character of the wood, sanded and finished smooth with hand tools to give the piece a smooth yet still rustic appearance and feel. Yellow birch is a naturally hard wood insuring that each piece of furniture will live a long and useful life. The Logs are harvested from our wood Lot in the great north woods of Vermont, aka "The NEK" (Northeast Kingdom). We use sustainable harvesting practices by thinning out the smaller growth to let the forest mature.
All off our furniture gets1 light coat of natural pine stain, giving it a more "Rustic aged" look (Yellow birch is naturally very light in color) then 2 coats of Danish oil finish is hand rubbed in for a natural look.
